Module VI: Wound Related Pain:
Strategies for Minimizing Pain and Optimizing Quality of Life

Wound related pain can significantly impact a patient’s life. The care that is provided to the patient may influence this pain; therefore, strategies to decrease pain should be incorporated into the plan of care. This program provides information about wound related pain and offers recommendations for practice that will assist with the reduction of this pain.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of this program participants will be able to:

Understand the impact that wound related pain has on the patient and how their quality of life may be impacted
Identify the financial and regulatory impact that wound related pain has on the healthcare industry
Describe appropriate assessment and documentation for wound related pain
Identify treatment strategies to reduce wound related pain throughout the wound healing process
